Designed with Intention

Founded in 2023, Yínká is a Black-woman-led label nestled at the intersection of ethical fashion, fine art, and timeless elegance. Yínká is embodied by striking hand-painted prints and new-classic silhouettes. Our pieces depict wildlife and nature motifs brought to life through recycled fabrics and designed to be loved forever.

Raised on Southern California's Palos Verdes Peninsula, founder Yínká nurtured her creativity from a young age and fell in love with the art of 19th century impressionists. Their perfectly effortless-looking brushstrokes continue to inspire her aesthetic. She was introduced to monotype printmaking in 2022 during her studies at Stanford, where she created the prints which serve as the artwork for her first drop. The print features a blue butterfly gesturally rendered in deep shades of cerulean and prussian blues.

Yínká was born out of a love for fine art and the desire for society to reconsider the way we think of fashion. Just as art, wearables can be designed to be beautiful and made with intentionality to last a lifetime. As a society, we face overconsumption, but the Yínká muse cherishes fewer beautifully crafted pieces over a closet full of fleeting trends.

Message from Yínká Braimah

"I want everyone to feel beautiful when they wear Yínká. Growing up, I didn't see many girls who looked like me in my community, let alone in fashion or art. There's beauty in things that are non-conforming and different."
